Restriction orifices are a pressure-reducing device designed to decrease fluid pressure within a system.
Restriction orifices are pressure-reducing devices designed to decrease fluid pressure in a system. Unlike orifice plates used for flow measurement, restriction orifices are built to handle high-pressure drops, which can result in cavitation, sonic flow, and acoustic-induced vibrations. They are sized to achieve the desired permanent pressure loss, and their design may need to be assessed by experts for stress and noise-related considerations.
All nominal sizes are offered in compliance with relevant standards without any size restrictions. Additionally, they can be installed at any angle from horizontal to vertical.
Types:
-Restriction plates : most sufficient A plate or block with a bore (orifice) sized to the intended permanent loss, installed between pipe flanges which has standard applications.
-Multi hole Restriction plates : Used to abate noise generated by the device due to high velocity.
- Multi stage Restriction plates : Consists of a number of single-stage devices built in a single spool, utilized where the pressure reduction ratio is very high and cannot be achieved by a single-stage orifice which are available in flanged/butt-weld ends.
